THE DRIVING TEST IN Barking

Barking (Town Quay) test centre is located close to the Barking (Tanner Street) Test Centre and will share very similar test routes.

The examiner will cover varied traffic systems from quiet residential streets to busy dual carriageways sections such as the North Circular Road. After the documents check, the eye test and Show Me Tell Me questions, the 40 driving test will begin, where around 20 minutes is allotted to independent driving, plus a manoeuvre will be requested.

The emergency stop procedure isn’t conducted during each test – around one in every three tests conducted, the emergency stop will be requested.
Plenty of practice of roads around the test centre is advised as routes are challenging and fast-paced due to being a city environment. Use the Barking Test Centre routes (see below) as a guide on the types of roads and traffic systems you can expect.

The Barking (Town Quay) Driving Test Centre routes are almost identical to those from Barking (Tanner Street) Test Centre, See the driving test routes section.

Passed 3rd time in Barking Town Quay with an examiner called Darren (all other 2 attempts done here). 1st time, I failed for messing up the bay Barking which I think was fair. 2nd time, I did loads of silly mistakes cause of nerves (though examiner said he had intentions of passing me if it wasn't for a lane discipline issue towards the end of the test). Examiners here all seem really nice. They provide clear instructions and even after the test they take their time to provide you feedback to do better next time.
