THE DRIVING TEST IN Newbury

Located on the edge of Newbury, Newbury Driving Test Centre will feature a wide variety of routes and roads for the test. Rural country roads are likely on the test routes and represent a challenge due to fast roads and sharp bends. See the country road driving tutorial for further information.

High speed ‘A’ roads such as the A339 are also taken as part of the test routes. In town driving during the test will feature many traffic systems. From mini roundabouts often located within residential areas, to large multi-lane roundabouts, small unmarked junctions to large traffic light controlled junctions and crossroads will feature.

The examiner will request one of the possible four test manoeuvres with the possibility of the emergency stop procedure. One in every three tests conducted feature the emergency stop. Test centre routes are designed by the examiners who conduct practical tests at their local test centre.

The routes are designed in such a way so to involve as many diverse roads and traffic systems as possible, often including very challenging parts. Gaining knowledge of the test routes provides valuable insight into the type of roads that will be taken during your test. Driving test routes may be available to view or a downloadable app for your mobile device in your area, including Newbury Driving Test Centre.

Examiner was very friendly. As long as you drive safely it is absolutely your days.
Follow Mirror Signal Maneuver/ Check Approaching speed at Junctions / Check the Traffic approach at Round about w.r.t priority/ While moving off your vehicle other approach driver should not get disturbed. Just thought of sharing here. Take it easy. This test center is highly recommended.

No problem with this test centre, as long as you can actually drive properly you'll be OK. Examiner was friendly.

Horrible patronising examiners. No interest whatsoever for actually giving constructive feedback or at least caring about their job...
