Glasgow Driving Test Centre

There are five practical driving test centres within the city of Glasgow area. Four of the practical test centres offer car, one test centre offers car and motorcycle tests and one test centre offers lorries, large vehicles (LGV) and buses and car and trailer tests, all of which are detailed below.

Glasgow Driving Test Centres for cars are located in busy urban environment. The test examiner will require you to demonstrate a diverse array of skills and safety at traffic systems such as roundabouts, to include major multi-lane to small residential based mini roundabouts, junctions and various crossroads.

Narrow residential roads often feature during the driving test. These road type are hazardous due to narrow lane widths and oncoming vehicles, where it can be challenging for learner drivers to pass parked cars. See the passing parked cars tutorial for further guidance.

From some of the test centres, rural country roads may be a feature. These high speed roads provide hazards due to difficult to navigate corners. The country road driving guide offer help on using rural roads. High speed ‘A’ roads are likely to feature on some test centre routes, especially dual carriageways if present.

The testing examiner will request a minimum of one test manoeuvre and the test has a 1-in-3 possibility of the emergency stop procedure being requested. The practical driving test usually takes around 40 minutes or so and 10 minutes of this is taken for independent driving.

The time of day in which you take your test has a huge impact on how your test runs. Generally, it’s best to book your test outside of these times to allow for a quieter test. Whichever Glasgow Driving Test Centre you choose, there are two options for booking your test:

Book a driving test by phone
The book a driving test section contains the DVSA telephone numbers for booking a practical driving test at Glasgow Driving Test Centre by phone. This telephone number directs you to an automated test booking line, although if you browse the option you can talk to a assistant.

Book your driving test online

Rescheduling or cancelling the driving test
3 working days notice is required to cancel the driving test at Glasgow if you require a full refund. The same conditions apply if you wish to reschedule. Cancellations and rescheduling can be done via the contact details above.
