THE DRIVING TEST IN Newcastle-under-Lyme

As the Newcastle-under-Lyme Driving Test Centre is situated around the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent, the test will include a varied assortment of roads. Expected can be rural country driving and high speed ‘A’ roads such as the A500 dual carriageway.

Rural roads in particular can be hazardous and challenging due to higher speeds and sharp corners. See the country road driving tutorial for further information. In-town driving will include busy roads, roundabouts, crossroads and junctions.

Narrow residential streets are often used for test manoeuvre purposes and to test your ability for meeting oncoming vehicles within narrow lanes and streets. This often also involves passing parked cars. Expect a single manoeuvre with the emergency stop procedure having a 1-in-3 possibility of being requested. Test centre routes are designed by the examiners who conduct practical tests at their local test centre.

The routes are designed in such a way so to involve as many diverse roads and traffic systems as possible, often including very challenging parts. Gaining knowledge of the test routes provides valuable insight into the type of roads that will be taken during your test. Driving test routes may be available to view or a downloadable app for your mobile device in your area, including Newcastle-under-Lyme Driving Test Centre.

I just passed my diving test in Newcastle-under-Lyme with such a professional examiner, Carl.
He was absolutely pleased, kind and made me feel so comfortable an relaxed. Thank you so much.

terrible driving test centre! would not recommend to a friend! i have been scrutinised for silly silly errors that i personally wouldn’t even consider a minor. i do get like they are in charge and what not, but failing the basis on which i have failed on each time is ridiculous. I would get them sacked however that wouldn’t improve the back log on tests so my not be my best move, nethertheless i definitely think it would beneficial to so many aspiring drivers! If you are complimenting me after my test saying im a good driver, why is my liscence still green?!!????

Passed with 5 minors, I had Ian, made me feel really comfortable and saw my potential even though I made a few mistakes, really good test compared to ones I had previously!!

Absolutely horrific, pick any minor mistake and use it to fail you. Failed there 5 times, the examiners are rude and intimidating. Make you feel small and speak down to you. I’ve had enough of failing at this test centre for minor things. Not helpful and give no advice as to how to move on and actually pass. Been told that my driving is “flawless” and yet they are insistent to fail me for a minor mistake. Instructor has had to install cameras on the car to check that no foul play is taking place.
