THE DRIVING TEST IN Steeton
Steeton Driving Test Centre provides practical tests for both cars and large vehicles (LGV). On arrival to Steeton Driving test centre, practical test candidates should enter through the main gate and follow the signs to the car parking area, marked with cones (ahead and then to the right).
Follow the signs on the fencing to the waiting room (in one of the portacabins). Avoid the LGV manoeuvring area. Avoid parking in the visitor bays next to the LGV manoeuvring area.
A varied driving test. A combination of village, town and country roads and high speed dual carriageways such as the A629 may all feature during the practical test. The test routes are compiled by the examiners who conduct the tests at each specific test centre. Test routes are compiled to utilise as many varied road types and traffic systems as possible so to ensure the test candidate is proficient in all aspects of driving.

Rescheduling or cancelling the driving test
Driving Tests can be rescheduled or cancelled. Changing your driving test date can be done providing three working days’ notice is given. To cancel your test and receive a full refund from DVSA bookings, three working days’ notice must also be provided. Saturdays are also classed as a working day.

Managed to pass at this test centre 2nd time with Chris as my examiner, he’s absolutely incredible and puts nerves at ease. 1st time however, I had Paula, and although I 100% deserved to fail she did not handle the situation professionally at all and was quite rude before and during the test. In all honesty I was in total shock at the comments she was making after the fault causing me to fail. But the test centre is decent and in a prime location , just certain examiners (seems to be the lady examiners) let the place down.
Real nasty attitude from the examiner, I was taking my LGV 2 test on the 6/8/20, admittedly I failed because of a stupid mistake I made, however, the examiner was nasty from the start, I misheard her question because of construction noise at the test centre, she started barking at me. I answered all her “show me tell me” questions, she did not seem happy, when she stopped me she was smirking and seamed happy to tell me I had failed. I did not want to go to that centre in the first place as it has a reputation, for me it was a 2 hour drive to Steeton, I will never go there again. Steer well clear....
Stay clear examiner Paula very patronising and highly strung really abrupt before I even got in the car
Had a perfect until coming to end when examiner ask me to put demister on the fact that I looked for the switch I failed that was a deliberate action to fail. I have heard that there are only a certain no of passes allowed per day my advice is stay well clear of steeton
I had Helen twice for my tests, my first test I failed for observation, but throughout the test Helen was very professional. I thought I had messed up on a hill and kept apologising but she reassured me it was fine, she chatted about my children and work and I found although she seemed stern (but she was testing me on my driving) she was really lovely. My second test I hoped to get Helen and I did, she is strict with rules but it has to be done, I got confused at one point with the sat nav and she helped me a little by putting me on the right track, and I passed that test with 2 minors which she explained at the end what I had done and gave me advice if I was in those situations again. All in all I think she is a a fair examiner, even though I felt my first test I was failed on something silly I could see why as she explained the consequences of my fault
