As the driving test centre of Upton is located close to the outskirts, country and rural villages may also feature. See country road driving for a tutorial on these road types.

Expect in the test one of the possible four test manoeuvres along with the emergency stop procedure having around a 1-in-3 possibility of being requested.

Such manoeuvres are often requested in residential areas and streets. These areas are also to test your ability for meeting oncoming vehicles in and around parked cars and clearance distances.

A good understanding and safety of all traffic systems such as junctions, roundabouts and crossroads is essential for the challenging test routes of Upton Driving Test Centre. Knowing each and every test route isn’t essential, though gaining an understanding of the particularly difficult areas of the test routes often proves beneficial.

After the third attempt my son passed today, first fail driving too carefully 35 in a 50 , second fail, before he even left the test centre , they made him reverse back into the space he was parked in and failed him within 10 meters for lack of observations, third time passed no faults at all , this centre is riddled with incompetents who try and trip young drivers up and feel smug about it two female examiners really rather repulsive individuals

Very poor service after taking time off work being 20 minutes before an exam that its been cancelled.
Now having to take more time to book it again .
Very frustrating.

Sorry, this centre is not a good place to pass for young drivers please seek others centres.
The lady examiner who is over five foot tall, white haired is determined to fail people :

As you are all aware that there are road works going on everywhere near the test centre but she pointed out that I had to go at 30 on the areas which clearly had signboards to say skid risk areas speed max 20 and failed me for this.
Took me to routes where I had to check blind spots and said that I was checking blind spots too many times. Is this real ??
This is the only reasons she said that I failed

I fail today but the examiner was correct and fair If he really want me fail he can give me serious mistake in first 5 sec because on my exit from centre parking i was close to make another car slow down instead he see ho nervous i was and still give me only a minor. I failed because of tension . I drive worst than in my first day. Sound crazy but i make serious mistake on traffic light. In my last 35 lessons never happen that. I hope next time to be more cool and calm
