Took my test today. Would just like to say that the examiner was very professional. He calmed my nerves and was nice and chatty which helped alot. He was very fair in his assessment and told me where to improve and my slight mistakes. All of which were very helpful. I passed and I think it was mainly down to how comfortable he made me feel. So many thanks in being so professional.

Had a test here recently, it wasn't the worst but not the best either, the examiner was very serious and not particularly chatty until after we both knew I had failed, which was a shame as I know a lot of my issues were down to nerves/the tension of sitting in silence.

I was failed at a traffic light because I didn't notice it change to green which is completely fair, the only issue being I was having to ask for clarity on where to go as I couldn't understand the sat navs instructions, so in getting clarity from the examiner I was looking at where I was going to go and not the lights. This is a fair mistake to mark me down for, but I do know for some this would be a minor as we weren't just sat with me staring at the lights. In any case even though this was still a justified marking down/fail, the issue was more that when we arrived back at the center early, I asked for a brief description of my minors and he told me to just have more lessons and then left. He also didn't tell my instructor anything more either, so it's hard to know specifically what I was meant to ask my instructor to go over as I know my mistakes were mostly nerves as all the minors on my test were things I've rarely struggled with in lessons, but it would still have been helpful to know which areas to focus on.

I understand he had to get out of the car, as per covid rules, so I won't begrudge that, but it would have been helpful if when my instructor asked, he had told him 'needs to work on steering/gears/positioning' or whatever the problem area was so that I could at least get better at doing it whilst nervous/under pressure. But some of the minors I got in my email I have no idea what they were for.

He hurried off back inside before I could ask any more questions.

I've rebooked at a different center due to availability, but I would recommend that it could be good for examiners to just extend the option for nervous students beforehand to make small talk if they think it may put them at ease, as it might really help some people who are good drivers but get bad nerves as I know thats a big cause of failed driving tests from otherwise competent students.

He seemed like an alright guy, I just wish he could have either been a bit more chatty or at least given me an overall idea of specifics to work on. Maybe I got him on a bad day, but hopefully someone might see this and be able to use it for future tests.
