A warning light symbol in the dashboard instrument cluster along with a message in the information display is shown to explain a Check Control message on the BMW 3 series. These are fault light and messages relating to a malfunction on the Active Steering System / Electronic Power Steering (EPS).

Attempt a steering wheel sensor reset
Reset the steering wheel sensor for BMW 3 series as follows:
- Start the engine
- Turn the steering wheel to full left lock
- Wait two seconds
- Turn the steering wheel to full right lock
- Wait two seconds
- Turn the steering wheel to full left lock
- Wait two seconds
- Turn the steering wheel to full right lock
- Wait two seconds
- Turn steering wheel back to centre
- Wait two seconds
- Turn engine off
- Wait for one minute
- Restart car
