Cheap driving schools or instructors may be tempting, but could be offering cheap lessons for a reason. A good instructor will have an excellent reputation and will receive a great deal of work from referrals.

To find that all important driving instructor in Jersey, ask around. Ask other who have recently passed their driving test which school they used and how they rate them. Also look for reviews online. Once you have found a driving instructor that looks idea, you need to ask them some questions.

Establish if the instructor is fully qualified or part trained. Trainee driving instructors cannot run their own driving school, but a driving school that has more than one instructor, may use trainees. A trainee instructor is perfectly fine to use, but they will have less experience than a fully qualified one. Simply ask if the instructor is fully qualified or a trainee. By law, instructors must display their ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) green licence in the windscreen. A trainee on will need to display a pink PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) licence.

A driving instructor that has at least a couple of years experence is good, so ask them how long they're been teaching. Ask them also if they teach only in your area. The reason for this is that some instructors travel to many different towns and cities to work. A instructor who teaches locally will know the difficult areas of the test routes very well. Examiners develop driving test routes for each test centre. If your instructor knows these routes very well, it'll increase your chances of passing the driving test first time.

Other questions that are worth asking are about discounts they offer. Most driving schools give discounts on block bookings. For a complete driving novice, you'll be looking at around 30 hours or so. Block booking these can save you money. Before doing so however, it's essential that you have an assessment lesson. This first driving lesson is important as it'll allow you to find out if you feel comfortable with the instructor and they you clearly understand the techniques they use to teach.
