Reset Ford Fiesta Tyre Pressure Light

Tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are a safety feature that warns the driver that one or more tyres has deflated to 25% or more of the set pressure. The tyre pressure light in the Ford Fiesta may need to be reset due to the monitoring system being triggered, yet the light is remaining on after remedial action.

Tyre Pressures

You should perform a system reset of the TPMS each time you adjust tyre pressures. Tyre pressures should be checked every two weeks, particularity when it is cold. Tyre pressures are lower when cold, often triggering the tyre pressure monitoring system. Driving with under-inflated tyre pressures can:

  • Reduce vehicle stability
  • Reduce braking ability
  • Increase fuel consumption
  • Increase tyre wear

Changing Tyres

You must carry out the tyre pressure monitoring system reset each time you have a tyre changed on your vehicle.

Changing Wheels

If you intend on changing your wheels, the tyre pressure monitoring system will need to re-learn pressure sensors to avoid continually triggering a fault.

  1. Make sure all tyres are inflated to the correct pressure.
  1. Park up and allow your vehicle to rest for at least 20 minutes.
  1. Carry out the tyre pressure monitoring system reset procedure.
  2. The tyre pressure monitoring system will now re-learn the new pressure sensors for your Ford Fiesta the next time you drive for around 15 minutes and above a speed of 25 mph.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Malfunction

If all tyres are running the correct pressures, you have reset the TPMS and the spare tyre is not in use, it’s likely that you have a malfunction with one or more of your sensor located in the tyres. These monitoring systems are sealed units meaning that sensors or batteries cannot be replaced independently and the whole unit should be replaced.

I had 2 front tyres replaced on 3 year old 2016 fiesta, within a short time tyre pressure warning appears, when checked all tyre pressures are fine, reset sensors in radio menu still same fault continues to appear every 25/30 min on run.
I then took car to kwik fit, they have a sensor check tool which is used on each wheel, it found all sensors ok. The tool is able to check individual sensor is functioning and pressure in tyre.
It now seems i will have to take to main dealer to investigate further.
