Finding a Good Driving School
Learning to drive is expensive and can take a lot of time before reaching test standard. To help keep the expense and time to a minimum, it's important to find a good driving school. Finding the best driving school in the Norfolk area may not be the cheapest per hour, but will ultimately require fewer lessons, and so cost less long-term. Avoid if possible simply choosing a driving instructor because they're cheap. Driving instructors vary in skills and ability, a good driving instructor will understand your ability to learn and adapt to you.
Assessing Your Driving Instructor
A good instructor will constantly be assessing your driving ability and progress. It's important however to assess your instructor before signing up to do a course. The first driving lesson is the ideal time to do this. Some schools and instructor may offer the first lessons free. During this lesson, ensure you feel comfortable with the instructor and fully understand their teaching technique so that you understand clearly what they are explaining and what they expect you to do. After this initial lesson, the instructor will give you a good idea on how many driving lessons before the test and discuss a suitable course to reach that test standard.
Questions to Ask Your Driving Instructor
A good driving instructor will also increase your chances to pass the driving test first time.

If after the initial driving lesson you decide that you feel at ease with your instructor and clearly understand them, ask them a few more questions. Some instructors travel to many towns and cities and may not have a good knowledge of the driving test routes. It's not essential to know all the driving test routes, but the routes often include many difficult areas. Ask your instructor if they know the routes well for all the driving test centres in the Norfolk area that you intend on taking your test. Whilst learning to drive, knowing these difficult areas will significantly increase your chances of passing.

Lastly, ensure your instructor is legally licensed to teach someone to drive for pay. They must have one of two licence types clearly displayed in the front windscreen. A trainee driving instructor licence is pink in colour and a fully qualified driving instructor (ADI) has a green licence. Listed below are some questions you may consider asking any Norfolk driving school or instructor.
