Driving Test in London

Driving tests in London

Driving tests in London can be a more challenging than many of the other areas that DVSA practical test centres are located. Statistically the driving test pass rates for the London test centres show this. This is due to the higher volume of traffic in London compared to other areas. Driving technique by many drivers can also be much more aggressive and frantic in London which gives learner drivers far less time to think which can lead to more mistakes being made.

If you are struggling to pass the driving test in London, it may be worth considering taking the test in another area, where traffic may be less dense and motorists a little more relaxed (see driving test centres for a list of centre within the UK). If you have friends or family in other areas, perhaps stay with them for a few days to take driving lessons in that area before the test.

Taking driving lessons in the area will allow you to become accustomed with the test routes and improve your chances for passing.

ARRIVING AT THE TEST CENTRE

It is important that you take with you your provisional driving licence, both the card and the paper counterpart. Failure to take these or an acceptable form of identification will result in a termination of the driving test and you will lose the driving test fee. Although not essential, also take your theory test pass certificate and the driving test confirmation letter or print the e-mail the DVSA sent you. If any complications arise, these should help to resolve them.

Whilst making a test booking, it can often be beneficial to schedule your test for the quieter times of the day. Practical driving tests are easily booked by the two available methods detailed below.

Practical driving tests in the UK are booked via the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Driving tests can be booked by telephone or via the internet (see below). Pass rates vary from each test centre, often due to the difficulty of the test routes. Busier areas such as those in London can be slightly lower than in other areas. Some test candidates choose a test centre outside of their location due to the type roads that are taken on the test. The driving test pass rates section may show driving test pass rate statistics for your practical test centre.

LONDON TEST CENTRE TELEPHONE CONTACT NUMBERS

See above for details. The London Driving Test Centres contact telephone numbers may be located within the driving test centre contact numbers section or obtained from your driving test confirmation letter or email.
