THE DRIVING TEST IN Orkney

Orkney Driving Test Centre is multipurpose as it provides practical tests for cars, motorcycles and large vehicles (LGV). Orkney Driving Test Centre is situated around rural roads where bends may be difficult to navigate due to oncoming vehicles.

The road types can be hazardous for novice drivers in particular as it can be difficult to establish the correct speed for the often harsh corners. The country road driving tutorial helps with this. Small village roads may have narrow and difficult areas which is a common area to fail driving test.

High speed ‘A’ roads are also present such as the A965 and is frequently used during the driving test at Orkney. Expected is a single test manoeuvre with a high chance of the emergency stop procedure (the emergency stop is requested on every other test conducted).

Test centre routes are designed by the examiners who conduct practical tests at their local test centre. The routes are designed in such a way so to involve as many diverse roads and traffic systems as possible, often including very challenging parts. Gaining knowledge of the test routes provides valuable insight into the type of roads that will be taken during your test. Driving test routes may be available to view or a downloadable app for your mobile device in your area, including Orkney Driving Test Centre.
