Driving outside of Skipton itself into rural roads and villages is likely during the driving test from Skipton Driving Test Centre. The country road driving tutorial offers advice on using country rural roads during the test.

Fast paced A roads such as the A65 and A629 is also commonplace. Driving in Skipton itself will involve the examiner taking you though roundabouts, crossroads and various junctions to test your ability at such road systems. The test will involve one of the four test manoeuvres and the emergency stop procedure being likely with a 1-in-3 possibility.

Test routes are developed by the examiners at their specific test centre. The routes are designed in such a way so to involve as many diverse roads and traffic systems as possible, often including very challenging parts.

Gaining knowledge of the test routes provides valuable insight into the type of roads that will be taken during your test. Driving test routes may be available to view or a downloadable app for your mobile device in your area, including Skipton Driving Test Centre.

Practical tests take place all week long throughout the day. Certain test centres may offer Saturday tests at a slightly increased booking fee. Tests that are conducted during the quieter periods of the day may benefit candidates.

After a disastrous and particularly stressful experience at another test centre where the examiner was thoroughly unpleasant and off-putting, I decided to change and go to Skipton for my 2nd test. Sadly, I didn't pass, but that was my fault and the examiner was very calm, polite, professional and I understood why he made the decision that he did. The feedback I received here was very helpful and I was able to use that to improve my driving.
I rebooked at Skipton again and passed on my second attempt (third overall) with 2 minors. On both tests, I had different examiners but both were very professional and although I was very nervous, I couldn't fault them at all. I would highly recommend booking your test at Skipton,
