THE DRIVING TEST IN South Yardley
South Yardley Driving Test Centre has challenging and complex test routes. A high level of practice will be needed on busy multi-lane traffic systems of all types including roundabouts, junctions and crossroads. Test candidates often are taken on high speed dual carriageway sections such as the A45.
The test may also take you out-of-town into more rural areas and villages which also feature as part of the test routes – see the country road driving tutorial for help on these road types.
These areas and also quieter residential areas are often used for test manoeuvres and other situation for testing such as meeting oncoming traffic with parked cars one or both sides of the road and the emergency stop, having a 1-in-3 possibility of being requested.
The test routes are compiled by the examiners who conduct the tests at each specific test centre. Test routes are compiled to utilise as many varied road types and traffic systems as possible so to ensure the test candidate is proficient in all aspects of driving.
Test routes often include difficult parts and by gaining knowledge of the routes offers valuable insight into what to expect on the test. Driving test routes may be available to view or a downloadable app for your mobile device in your area, including South Yardley Driving Test Centre.

After reading the comments posted I was doubtful of booking a test at South Yardley. However, I passed on the first attempt at this test centre. My examiner was Ryan. He was professional and polite. He tried his best to ensure I didn't feel the pressure of being examined. These are the type of examiners we need. Unfortunately not all examiners are as considerate.
I'm not saying this test centre is bad in any way. At the end of the day, they are just a normal driving test centre. However, due to their statistics (and taking 2 tests there, failing both times), I would not advise anyone to book here, even if you have practised the routes. The reputation of a place usually precedes them for good reason, South Yardley is in the top 10 for worst pass rates. So you go at your own risk!
Really do not like this test centre. Failed 2 tests there and felt like absolute crap even though I got a couple of minors so obviously am not a terrible driver and they just failed me for stupid reasons. Then come home and do some research to find out they have a terrible pass rate. I'm actually thinking about formally complaining because what they are doing here is not okay and people are having to spend so much money on taking multiple driving tests.
Passed first time here. Had an amazing examiner. If you are a good and safe driver there is no reason to fail you. Thank you south Yardley 🙂
Absolute joke, please do not book here and make them money. They fail you for nothing. They look for excuses to fail you. They will fail you for a minor. They will probably fail you for sneezing. An absolute depressed bunch of sad, horrible, depressed examiners with the rarest of exceptions. Book elsewhere.
