Located on the outskirts of York, the driving test from York Driving Test Centre will involve many varied road types. Rural country roads are often featured as are high speed ‘A’ roads such as the A1237 dual carriageway. In-town driving will involve many road systems including junctions, roundabouts and crossroads.

Examiners also take you around residential streets. These areas are typically used to assess passing distances, such as passing parked cars (often with oncoming vehicles approaching) and passing cyclists.

The driving test will incorporate one test manoeuvre along with the emergency stop procedure having a 1-in-3 possibility of being requested. Independent driving will take approximately 10 minutes of the driving test.

Rescheduling or cancelling the driving test
Driving Tests can be rescheduled or cancelled. Changing your driving test date can be done providing three working days’ notice is given. To cancel your test and receive a full refund from DVSA bookings, three working days’ notice must also be provided. Saturdays are also classed as a working day.

Had my driving test today and was super nervous! I had Ros today and after meeting with her and realising how lovely she was she instantly made me feel calm. This is was 2nd time I’ve taken the test, the 1st time I was so nervous it caused me to fail but because Ros was such a lovely women i calmed down and I passed today!!

Had my second driving test and was quite nervous after my first examiner made me feel quite uncomfortable. However, mark made me feel at ease and clarified all the questions that I had. Fortunately I passed my test today and I put it down to the calm manner of my examiner.
